Marian £ukaniszyn graduaded in 1977 from the Technical University of Opole, Poland. He received his Ph. D. and Habilitate Doctorate (corresponding to D.Sc.) degrees all in electrical engineering from Technical University of Lodz in 1985 and 1991, respectively.

Since 1977 he has been with the Department of Electrical Engineering and Automatic Control at the Technical University in Opole, where he became a professor in 1992.

Dr Lukaniszyn was awarded a research Fellowship by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Germany in 1993 and he spent this fellowship (28 months) with the Lehrstuhl für Allgemeine und Theoretissche Elektrotechnik at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg. His  research interest are in the areas of modelling and calculation of the electromagnetic fields in the elements of the electrical devices, electrical machines and transformers.

In 2003 he was promoted to the rank of Full Professor (life title given by the President of the Republic of Poland).

Prof. £ukaniszyn authored and co-authored 13 books, over 170 scientific and technical papers. His current research interests include electromagnetic field analysis and dynamics of electrical devices, particularly brushless disc-type motors with permanent magnets.
